Surprise for me

Was very surprised the other morning when I went to check on a blog that I check everyday. There in all it's glory was the sewing machine cover I had made from selvages. At first my thought was someone liked it well enough and "copied my idea" and then it dawned on me "That is yours" silly me!!! If you would like to check out the blog (she has some interesting things on there) here it is http://selvageblog.blogspot.com/ Thanks Karen!

Yesterday was Friday, so true to coarse we were in Eugene finding yard sales. Not a whole lot and even had time to check out a new area. Was looking for some vintage sheets (along with all the other stuff I always look for) for a swap I joined and none to be found. Seems like they know when I decide I want something. Did find some more quilting magz. (Just what I needed) and a couple of pieces of material, really needed that too!!!

Sat here last evening going thru my magz. and marked a couple I'd really like to do. Just wish there was more time in the day!

Got to order a couple of patterns that I have been saving for for some time now. Can't wait for them to get here. Probably won't be able to start on it for some time but at least I know I have the patterns. The first one is "Over the River and Through The Woods. This is a poem from long ago when I was in the sixth grade (Ms. Mahoney was the teacher) and as an assignment we had to memories that poem. It has always stuck in my mind.

Over the River and Through the Wood
by Lydia Maria Child (1844)

Over the river, and through the wood,
to Grandfather’s house we go;
the horse knows the way to carry the sleigh
through the white and drifted snow.

Over the river, and through the wood,
to Grandfather’s house away!
We would not stop for doll or top,
for ’tis Thanksgiving Day.

Over the river, and through the wood—
oh, how the wind does blow!
It stings the toes and bites the nose,
as over the ground we go.

Over the river, and through the wood.
with a clear blue winter sky,
The dogs do bark and the children hark,
as we go jingling by.

Over the river, and through the wood,
to have a first-rate play.
Hear the bells ring, “Ting a ling ding!”
Hurray for Thanskgiving Day!

Over the river, and through the wood—
no matter for winds that blow;
Or if we get the sleigh upset
into a bank of snow.

Over the river, and through the wood,
to see little John and Ann;
We will kiss them all, and play snowball
and stay as long as we can.

Over the river, and through the wood,
trot fast my dapple gray!
Spring over the ground like a hunting-hound!
For ’tis Thanksgiving Day.

Over the river, and through the wood
and straight through the barnyard gate.
We seem to go extremely slow—
it is so hard to wait!

Over the river, and through the wood—
Old Jowler hears our bells;
He shakes his paw with a loud bow-wow,
and thus the news he tells.

Over the river, and through the wood—
when Grandmother sees us come,
She will say, “O, dear, the children are here,
bring pie for everyone.”

Over the river, and through the wood—
now Grandmother’s cap I spy!
Hurrah for the fun! Is the pudding done?
Hurrah for the pumpkin pie!

We used Grandmother's house instead of Grandfather. Oh the memories!!
And here is a picture of the pattern.

The second one is "Winter Wonderland" and the picture

Maybe after the first of the year I can work on them. (At least I'm hopeful)
This has been a long post for me so take care!!
