Made it back home

The trip to camp was very stressful. Spent the first night at Rufus along the river. Got up the next morning to drive on up to camp. Was going to eat breakfast at Boardman. Made it about 20 miles down the road and the pickup died!! To make a long story short we ended up having the pickup and trailer towed back to The Dalles to a shop where they did and awesome job of getting it fixed and us back on the road again, and they had a restaurant close by so finally ate about 1:00. Not a cheep trip, $985. later and late in the afternoon we were headed on toward camp. Arrived after dark, so just parked and climbed into bed.

The rest of the trip was awesome. Got down into the teens at night but sunny and in the 40's and 50's. Josy filled her youth tag on Sunday before our season opened. Her first elk (a cow was all she could hunt). Not a lot of elk were seen. Our tags were only good for a spike. By Sat. everyone but Steve had given up. He got up and walked the mile + out to the end of the ridge and said he was not going to stay if he didn't see anything. It was about 11 and I was expecting him back to camp anytime. We got a call on the radio that he had one down. Guess he had given up and turned to leave, turned around to take a last look and there was a spike and 2 cows. After the last 2 years of missing he finally had one on the ground and needed help getting it out. His brother went to help him.

Didn't get many pictures of camp this year. When the pickup broke down I had my camera on to try to get a picture of the goats that roam that part of the gorge, and I forgot to turn it off, thus "batteries dead"! The only ones I got were these two and was surprised that they took!! The picture with the blue tarp is Steve's and the other is Joslyn's cow.

I have been working on getting the trailer back in order and doing ALL THAT LAUNDRY! Want to get everything back to normal so I can SEW!! Take Care
